Snow Melting
A snow melting system is when tubing is installed throughout the surface area to be heated which circulates a water/antifreeze mixture. A boiler heats water and circulates it to a heat exchanger where the heat is transferred to the outside fluid that is running through the tubing resulting in a clearly defined snow and ice free area.
The Zonelife snow melting system provides easy access to the front door, can decreases accidents, prevents damage, save time, and is extremely easy to use. Cars and houses can last longer without salt, cars won’t slip up or down, and your neighbors may feel a little bit jealous.

A. You will not be using shovels, salt or sand on your driveway so it is likely that your driveway will last longer. Also, a thin layer of water causes less damage than snow and ice.
Q. Can a snow melting system be automated or does it have to be manual?
A. In the past it was necessary to turn on the snow melting systems based on weather forecasts or after snow was already on the ground that came unexpectedly.
Now, with modern controls and sensors, snow melting systems turn on automatically when snow is present and turn off when the snow is melted.
Operating only as needed provides minimal operating costs and great, dependable snow removal.
How does a system know when to turn on?
A. When a hydronic snow melting system is installed, sensors are installed along with it. The sensors detect outside air temperature and moisture then communicate with the rest of the system telling it if it should turn on. Then the system does the shovelling for you.
Will the tubing break in cold weather or melt when it needs to be at a very high temperature?
A. The tubing is designed to resist chemicals and corrosion. It is designed to have a long service life. At high temperatures the tubing will not get soft and at low temperatures it will not become brittle it will remain flexible.
My driveway is a unique design and shape, can I still have snow melting installed?
A. A Zonelife snow melting system is extremely customizable. We can design it to accommodate almost any unique shapes or angles.
